Baw (Bau, Bawu) is a Chinese traditional flute with a metal reed. The original sound range is very narrow and requires a strong blow to play. But don't worry! Baw - Ethnic Wind - was reborn as a new instrument. Adding samples to expand the range, flexible legato editor, unique dynamics control. This library is not a simply simulation or archive of traditional instrument. Once played, your imagination will also be expanded.

Always Visualize the Status

If you do not know where the parameter you want, you cannot use it. Lots of parameters will get you lost. Sometimes a good sound is produced by accident, but in order to create the desired sound, it is necessary to grasp the state of each parameter. Baw always shows satus in [STATUS] when you change the setting. Velocity layers are also displayed, so you can quickly figure out the sample mapping without checking the inside of the sampler.

Access More Easily

Even if you don't need to make it in detail, you may want to edit it roughly. In this case, let's access Easy Edit. Is it even troublesome? There are many presets.

You can also select a sound set in this section. Baw has two sound sets, A tuned by effect processing and B close to the original tuning. By switching between the two types of sound sets, you can create up to the same quality as when the take comping or pitch editing was applied in the actual recording.

Best Playability with Quick Settings

With flexible settings, Baw can be played both on the keyboard and the wind controller. However, the sound that include phrase sampling by velocity split are troublesome. Because in many cases it is necessary to change the velocity value with the wind controller before playing. Baw has solved this annoying problem. It can be adjusted on the front panel of Kontakt without changing the settings with the wind controller. (*Confilmed with EWI4000s)

From Wind Instrument to Keyboard Instrument

The expanded high range is also suitable for playing chords like an accordion. The sound reminds Claviola which is phantom woodwind toy piano. Baw also considered the playability of chord playing. Poly Auto Gain Control (PAGC) compresses the volume by counting midi events. This allows, for example, softening the difference of the volume when playing the bass with the left hand and playing the chord with the right hand.
